Camp Coyote Flats has a new owner -- Candace Carr. The camp, located at 201 Oak
Drive in Sattler, has been a summer day camp for the last 16 years. Candace is
leasing the facility year-round for all kinds of events and programming
including weddings, small private parties, large corporate events, and week long
church programs such as Daily Vacation Bible School. It is available by the
hour, day, or week. Currently, the main focus is tutoring by request and a water
fitness program.
Candace is a certified teacher. During her career, she has taught all ages and
subjects, from preschool to senior high school and has also taught adults in her
water fitness program. She has 30 years experience in swimming and water
instruction and has a Master of Education degree from Harvard Graduate School of
Education. Candace is originally from Austin where she graduated from U.T. and
she has been at Canyon Lake for 3 years.
The camp has hosted several events since it was purchased last October. In
October there was an “End of Summer Luau.” In November, an evangelical group
from Houston held a camp meeting revival. A multi- family garage sale, held in
December, was advertised as the “First Annual Coyote Christmas Bazaar“. On New
Year’s Eve, a party was held at the party pavilion at the back of the property
on Plateau Ridge Drive, and Candace hosted a “Sweet Sixteen Sunday Brunch” at
the same location in February.
Upcoming events include a “Spring Break Games Day” which will actually occur
over three days, Tuesday, the 22nd through Thursday the 24th. Beginning at 8:00
a.m. and ending at 12:00 p.m. each day, school age children are invited, with
their parents or caregivers, to participate in organized games on the ball
field, volleyball court, soccer field and pool pavilion. There is a $4 charge
per child and parents can stay for free. It is recommended that kids bring a
snack, but there will be snacks for sale and each day will end with an awards
ceremony.
In April, there will be a “Spring Cleaning” multi-family garage sale at the
party pavilion and in May, several CISD elementary schools have reserved the
camp for end-of-school parties and field days. This summer, the main focus will
be on water fitness and swimming instruction. Candace would be happy to give
tours and discuss your location needs. Call (830) 660-5359 for an appointment.
Next time you have a celebration, large or small, consider Camp Coyote Flats.
They will do whatever it takes to make sure your special event is a complete
success.
